Alternative Project Delivery

Typical design-bid-build procurement is still prevalent with many state and federal agencies, but construction is often performed using alternative project delivery methods such as design-build (standard and progressive) and public-private partnerships. We have experience working on both the upfront development of bridging documents for these types of projects as a representative of the owner and during final design as part of the design and construction team. During the bidding process, preliminary geotechnical considerations are required for alternative project delivery to meet the project specifications and properly account for geotechnical costs. Working with alternative project delivery is schedule sensitive and requires careful coordination with the roadway, structural, drainage, environmental, and hydraulic groups among others. Many of our clients use Design-Build and P3s delivery for projects. These methods combine design and construction into a single contract for one point of responsibility — often resulting in time and cost savings.
