Senior Geotechnical Engineer

This is a terrific career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join a team of outstanding professionals. This position offers potential for professional growth, a great working environment, and the opportunity to help our clients solve their most challenging problems. The New Jersey position also offers the opportunity to start a new office from the ground up with the support of an established firm with a broad existing client base.
Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple geotechnical projects ranging from large complex infrastructure projects to simple structures on spread footings;- Develop geotechnical engineering scope of services and fee estimates;- Perform management functions including work schedules, effective delegation of tasks, budget tracking, invoicing, and backlog reporting; - Manage client relationships and business development opportunities;- Develop subsurface investigation plans and prepare design reports for sites with complex conditions;- Provide technical guidance and oversight to other staff;- Serve as a technical adviser and mentor to project-level and staff-level project team members;- Participate in the training and development of our staff;- Perform Quality Assurance reviews of deliverables prepared by the firm; and,- Coordinate with clients and other Project Managers.
Required Skills & Required Experience
- Capable of working with limited technical guidance / oversight;- Awareness of risk management measures to control potential liability issues;- BS in Civil Engineering (MS and geotechnical focus preferred);- 15+ years of experience with State DOT Projects;- Experience in the use of AASHTO and State DOT design procedures ;- Current PE license; - Excellent written and verbal communication skills; - Strong leadership skills and the willingness to work in a team environment; - Positive attitude and the ability to multi-task;- Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement; - Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment; - Confidence and independence, with a shared sense of responsibility; - Effective time management and interpersonal skills; - Proficient in the use of LPile, GRLWeap, DRIVEN, and SLIDE; and,- Experience with geotechnical related foundation design for transportation projects including Roadways, Bridges, Retaining Walls, Culverts, Reinforced Soil Slopes, Temporary Shoring, Construction Specifications, and Shop Drawing Review.
