Our experience with water and wastewater projects ranges from underground and above-ground water storage tanks, water line replacements, wastewater treatment plant expansions, and dams. These services have included extensive coordination with plant-specific safety training and security badging, and characterization of site conditions within river floodplains.
Project Highlight:
American Water (Pennsylvania) Above-Ground Water Storage Tanks
The projects involved subsurface investigation, geotechnical design, and construction consultation of several above-ground water storage tanks in various locations throughout Pennsylvania. The tanks ranged in diameter from 20 to approximately 60 feet with heights of up to 75 feet. Test borings and laboratory testing of recovered samples were conducted to identify the in-situ soils. Bearing capacity and settlement of the proposed foundations were analyzed to determine the recommended foundation types and the need for ground improvement. During construction, A.G.E.S., Inc. provided services to confirm the geotechnical conditions were as expected and adjust the foundation recommendations for specific areas of concern.
A.G.E.S., Inc. has provided similar services for foundation design of above-ground water storage tanks for Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN), New Castle Sanitation Authority, Claysville-Donegal Joint Municipal Authority, and numerous agencies/municipalities statewide.
